Service: Docos.TV (docos.tv and associated apps)
Company: Northover Media, Inc., a Delaware corporation
Operations: Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Contact: privacy@docos.tv
1) Who We Are
Docos.TV (“we,” “us,” “our”) is operated by Northover Media, Inc., a corporation incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States, with operations based in Perth, Western Australia, Australia. We provide a free ad-supported factual and documentary streaming service through our website at docos.tv and our native apps on Android (phone, tablet, and Google TV) and Amazon Fire TV. iOS and Roku apps are in development. (Collectively, the “Service”.)
Our Service is primarily intended for users in the United States. We also serve international users including those in Australia, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and other countries. Where your jurisdiction grants you specific privacy rights, those are addressed below.
2) Scope
This Policy covers all personal information collected when you use the Service — including docos.tv, the Docos.TV Android app (which also runs on Google TV devices), the Docos.TV Fire TV app, and any future iOS, Roku, or Apple TV apps — whether collected directly by us or through third-party tools.
3) Docos.TV Apps — Per-Platform Data Practices
Docos.TV is available as native apps on multiple platforms. Data practices vary by platform.
Docos.TV Android app (also runs on Google TV):
- Requires no account, login, or registration
- Contains no in-app purchases
- Uses Google Firebase Analytics (provided by Google LLC) to measure app usage, feature engagement, and ad delivery performance. Firebase Analytics collects: a pseudonymous app instance ID, app version, device model, operating system version, country/region, app open events, screen views, and custom events related to channel viewing and advertising (such as channel selection, content category, ad request, ad impression, and ad error events). Data is transferred to and processed by Google servers and is governed by Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Uses Google Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google LLC) to receive crash and stability reports. Crashlytics collects: crash stack traces, device model, operating system version, app version, and a randomly generated installation UUID. No directly identifying information is collected. Data is transferred to and processed by Google servers.
- Uses the Google IMA SDK (Interactive Media Ads, provided by Google LLC) to request and display pre-roll video advertisements served by Google Ad Manager. The IMA SDK transmits: the device’s resettable advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID), IP address, device type, operating system, app version, approximate location, and contextual targeting parameters (channel ID, content category, device class). This data is used by Google and its advertising partners to select, serve, measure, and limit the frequency of ads, subject to Google’s privacy policy.
- Collects approximate location (country/region level) for regional content delivery and ad relevance
- Stores user preferences (last channel viewed, channel order, favourites) locally on the device only
- All network traffic is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS where supported by the upstream broadcaster
Opting out of personalised advertising on Android / Google TV:
- Android phone/tablet: Settings → Privacy → Ads → “Delete advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”
- Google TV: Settings → Privacy → Ads → “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”
Resetting your advertising identifier in device settings will prevent that identifier from being linked to previous activity. You may continue to receive non-personalised ads.
Docos.TV Fire TV app:
- Requires no account, login, or registration
- Contains no in-app purchases
- Streams publicly available live factual feeds directly from broadcaster CDNs
- Uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google LLC) on the same basis as the Android app described above, to measure app usage and receive crash reports. Data is transferred to and processed by Google servers and is governed by Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Uses the Google IMA SDK (Interactive Media Ads, provided by Google LLC) to request and display pre-roll video advertisements served by Google Ad Manager. The IMA SDK transmits the device’s Amazon Advertising ID, IP address, device type, operating system, app version, approximate location, and contextual targeting parameters (channel ID, content category, device class). This data is used by Google and its advertising partners to select, serve, measure, and limit the frequency of ads.
- Subject to the privacy practices of the underlying Amazon Fire TV platform
Opting out of personalised advertising on Fire TV:
- Fire TV: Settings → Preferences → Privacy Settings → Advertising ID → “Reset Advertising ID” or “Interest-based Ads” (off)
Resetting your Amazon Advertising ID will prevent that identifier from being linked to previous activity. You may continue to receive non-personalised ads.
Docos.TV iOS and Roku apps (in development):
- When launched, will require no account, login, or registration
- Will contain no in-app purchases
- Data practices for these platforms will be disclosed in this Policy at the time of launch
We do not sell personal information. The Docos.TV Android app (which also runs on Google TV) and the Docos.TV Fire TV app share limited device and usage data with Google for the analytics, crash reporting, and advertising purposes described above. If we materially change these data practices in a future release, we will update this Policy and the relevant store-level data safety declarations.
